“Shameless Steam” and Arts-Related Business Series – September 29, 2012
Steam at Harper’s Ferry is pleased to announce that Hannah Ehlman will be doing a presentation on her art work this coming Saturday, September 29.
As mentioned in a previous announcement, we are introducing an arts-related business series. There are two parts. The first part is something we’ve nicknamed “Shameless Steam” and for this inaugural event we sought arts-related businesses and professionals to promote their art work or their art-related businesses. The second part of the event features guest speakers.
At this inaugural event, Cynthia Gayton (owner of Steam at Harper’s Ferry as well as a practicing attorney, author and university professor) and Larry Gillick (multimedia producer, New Media Evangelist, and former Shenandoah University digital media professor) will speak.
Cynthia will make a presentation about how to protect fictional characters (literary and illustrated). Copies of her book, “Legal Aspects of Engineering” will be available for sale.
Larry will discuss business and promotional issues facing artists and other creatives. There will be some time set aside for discussion, so we are looking forward to audience input.
The event will be held from 4 – 6 pm. Light refreshments will be served. There is a $15 fee for attendees if received in advance, $25 at the door. You can purchase tickets in advance via eventbrite .
Steampunk Leisure Exhibit Opening
The “Steampunk Leisure” opening went very well. Despite weather predictions, it was sunny and pleasant. The new works by Teresa Dunham Cavagnaro and Nancy Kautz were well received. There were more than 100 visitors to the gallery over the weekend. Yay! If you didn’t have a chance to come to the opening, the exhibit will be there until November 18.
Olde Tyme Christmas
It is hard to think about Christmas right now, but planning has already begun. Jonah Knight will be performing at Steam at Harper’s Ferry again on opening day, Friday, November 30. The Steampunk Family and Steam at Harper’s Ferry are organizing a “Steampunk Promenade” on December 9 at 2 pm.
Whew! Have a great week!
