Call to Artists – Exhibit “Travels in Time” – Submissions due September 3
Steam at Harper’s Ferry announces a call to all artists to submit work for selection for its next exhibit “Travels in Time” in Harper’s Ferry, West Virginia September 21 – November 17, 2013. Artists are requested to submit work related to the H.G. Wells book, “The Time Machine,” ideally with a steampunk twist, by September 3, 2013. Artists may submit up to 3 works for selection. There will be a $30 administration and promotion fee if selected.

Save the date! The “Travels in Time” exhibit starts soon. Selected artists will be announced by September 6. In the meantime, please come by to view some remaining pieces from the “Around the World” exhibit which closed August 25.
What’s New at Steam
The Steampunk in Literature presentation at the Bolivar-Harper’s Ferry Public Library on August 15 went really well! Thanks to everyone who came by! If any of you are interested in the recommended reading list which was distributed at the Library, please contact Steam at Harper’s Ferry directly and a copy will be emailed to you.
On September 7, Steam at Harper’s Ferry will be a vendor at The Steampunk Family’s Steampunk Croquet Picnic! If you would like to receive an invitation, please contact Steam so you can be put on the guest list. We will have some popular items for sale, including Steam at Harper’s Ferry exclusive prints, new “Winged Elephant” bracelets, personal notebooks, tiny top hat décor, graphic novels and some other surprises. Artomatic in Jefferson County – October 2013 – REGISTRATION FOR STUDENTS ENDS 9/5
Artist registration for Artomatic@Jefferson ended August 10. However, student registration ends September 5. If you are a full time student, your registration fees will be waived! Contact Cynthia if you have an idea for an art demonstration or artist-focused education program. Cynthia Gayton (Steam at Harper’s Ferry owner and Volunteer Attorney for Washington Area Lawyers for the Arts) and John Mason (Board Member and Chair, Education committee for Washington Area Lawyers for the Arts) are leading two Creative Entrepreneur workshops.
